The RSPB manages a number of nature reserves in the Lake District, including the Bassenthwaite Lake Nature Reserve near Keswick. The reserve is home to a wide variety of birds, including breeding Osprey and other wildlife. The Lake District National Park has a number of projects and initiatives aimed at improving the environment and conserving the landscape which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
